MOOSIC, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team is in ninth place of 12 schools after the opening round Sunday of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational being hosted by The University of Scranton at the Glenmaura National Golf Club.

The Greyhounds turned in a team score of 334 strokes while McDaniel College leads the two-day, 36-hole tournament with a 306. Senior Tyler Smith had the Hounds' low round of the day with a 79 to sit in 16th place of 60 golfers. Senior Kevin Kunkle is tied for 21st after an opening round of 81 while sophomore Nick Kuhn is tied for 35th with an 86. Freshman Thomas Lakata had a first round score of 87 to tie for 41st while junior Joe Rochelle had a 93.

The second round of the tournament will be played on Monday, April 23 with an early set of tee times for the golfers as they hope to avoid a frost delay that had Sunday's round start 90 minutes late.
