Hounds Finish Eighth at Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational

MOOSIC, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team improved its team score by 17 strokes and moved up on spot on the second day of the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational hosted by The University of Scranton to finish in eighth place of 12 teams Monday.

The Greyhounds had a 317 on the second day at Glenmaura National Golf Course, the site of the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship Tournament on May 5-6, to finish the 36-hole tournament with 651. McDaniel College won the tournament with a 591.

Senior Tyler Smith had his best round of the season with an even par 71 on Monday as he finished in a tie for sixth with a 150 after improving eight strokes from his first round score. Senior Kevin Kunkle was tied for 31st of 60 golfers with a 165 after an 83 in the second round while freshman Thomas Lakata was tied for 34th with a 167 as he also improved eight strokes from his first round with an 80 on Monday. Sophomore Nick Kuhn tied for 37th at 169 with an 83 in the second round while junior Joe Rochelle also shot an 83 on Monday, improving by 10 strokes over his opening round and finishing in a tie for 45th with a 176.

Moravian is not scheduled to return to action until the 2018 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament at Glenmaura National Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6. The winning team will receive an automatic berth to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament later in May.
