Hounds Finish 2nd at John Makuvek Cup

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team finished second in the 2nd Annual John Makuvek Cup hosted this year by Muhlenberg College at the Lehigh Country Club Monday afternoon.

The Hounds had a team score of 321, five strokes behind the host Mules, who took a 3-0 lead in the annual Matte Award standings with the victory. DeSales University, next year's host, had a 336 team score.

Freshman Kevin Kunkle led the Greyhounds with a five-over par round of 75, placing third of the 14 golfers. Kunkle had the day's only eagle with a three on the par five 11th hole, and he had a total of four birdies as part of his round.

Junior Evan Dickinson was tied for fourth with a round of 80 that included two birdies in the final four holes while freshman Tyler Smith finished in a tie for seventh with an 82 with one birdie. Junior Jim Maru turned in a round of 84 while sophomore Dan Leppert had an 89.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, October 7 in the Alvernia University Invitational at the LedgeRock Golf Club starting at 12:00 p.m.
