Golf Remains 2nd at Empire 8 Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team remained in second place after the third round of the 2014-15 Empire 8 Conference Championship at the Hershey Country Club Saturday.

The Greyhounds had a 314 on Saturday in the first of two spring rounds in Hershey for a 54-hole team total of 943. St. John Fisher College remained in first place with a 923 as the squad increased its 13-stroke lead over the Hounds from last fall's two rounds in New York in September. Moravian is three strokes ahead of the University of Scranton and five shots in front of Stevens Institute of Technology heading into the final round on Sunday.

Junior Evan Dickinson fired a 78 on Saturday on the par 71 course to sit in a tie for sixth place among the 38 golfers that have played all three rounds at 233 after 54 holes. Junior Jim Maru is two strokes back and tied for eighth with a 235 following a team-low round of 77 Saturday.

Freshman Kevin Kunkle is in 11th at a total of 236 after an 81 in the third round while freshman Tyler Smith is in 14th place with a 240 total after a 79 on Saturday. Sophomore Dan Leppert had an 80 in the third round for a total of 254 while sophomore James Lobb played in his first round of the tournament Saturday with a 92.

The final round of the Empire 8 Conference Championships will be held on Sunday, April 19 at the Hershey Country Club.
