Fourth Seed Moravian Hosts Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference Women’s Soccer First Round on October 31

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team has earned the fourth seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament and will host fifth seeded Elizabethtown College in a first round match on Tuesday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.

Admission Tuesday's match is $7 for adults and $4 for minors ages 10-17 and seniors 62 and older. Children ages nine and under are admitted free of charge, as are all Landmark Conference students, faculty and staff with their school ID. Tickets can be purchased via Hometown Ticketing at https://landmarkconference.org/sports/2022/4/25/championships-tickets.aspx?path=champs.

With the addition of Lycoming College and Wilkes University to the Landmark Conference in 2023-24, all postseason tournaments have expanded to six teams with the top two seeds earning first round byes. The winner of the Moravian/Elizabethown match will travel to top seed The University of Scranton for a semifinal match on Thursday, November 2. Tuesday's other first round contest has sixth seed Susquehanna University heading to third seed Drew University at 7:00 p.m., and the winner of that match will head to second seed The Catholic University of America for the other semifinal contest on November 2. The 2023 Landmark Conference Championships match is set for Saturday, November 4 at the highest remaining seed for the conference title and a berth to the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

The Greyhounds, who are 8-4-4 overall and were 5-2-2 in the Landmark Conference regular season, are under led by tenth-year Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk, who has guided Moravian to the postseason for the first time since 2021 and for the fifth time since his tenure began in 2014.

Junior forward Carly Pyatt leads the Greyhounds with six goals and an assist while junior midfielder Sydney DeFranco has contributed three goals and an assist. Senior forward Lindsay Mullin has scored three goals while junior midfielder Chelsea Meltzer has added two goals. Junior defenders Kylie Hughes and Hailey Scaff both had a goal and an assist with both players and DeFranco converting on penalty kicks this fall.

Junior midfielder Colby Roach, sophomore defender Grace Blenis, senior defender Kiara Morales, senior forward Danielle Bishop, freshman defender Jenna Castaldo and junior midfielder Anika Buzzy all have each registered a goal this fall. Freshman defender Reagan Bleiler has a pair of assists while seniors forward Amanda Aloia and defender Megan Colton have both added one assist.

Senior goalie Payce Korpics has a 1.12 GAA with 26 saves and a 6-4-2 record in 720 minutes while senior keeper Paige Harrison is 2-0-2 with 16 saves and 0.43 GAA in 630 minutes. The duo has combined for seven shutouts this fall and 21 shutouts over the last three years.

Moravian rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Blue Jays, 3-2, when the squads met on John Makuvek Field on October 17 during the regular season.
