Six Greyhounds Named College Sports Communicators Women’s Soccer Academic All-District

Six women's soccer players that earned Academic All-District

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University seniors goalie Payce Korpics and defender Lauren Latchford and juniors defender Kylie Hughes, defender Cori Pursel, forward Carly Pyatt and defender Hailey Scaff have been named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve that has played in 90 percent of the team's contest or started 66 percent of the team's games in 2023. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.

Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The CSC Academic All-America® teams will be announced Wednesday, December 20.

The group helped the Greyhounds to an 8-5-4 overall mark this year, and the team was 5-2-2 in Landmark Conference action to earn the fourth seed in the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament. The Hounds posted seven shutouts in 17 matches in 2022.

Korpics, a nursing major and business minor with a 3.67 GPA, started 16 of the 17 matches in goal this fall for Moravian, and she had a 5-4-2 mark with seven combined shutouts to go along with 28 saves and a 1.05 goals-against average in 855 minutes of action. In her career, Korpics was 14-11-5 with 119 saves and a 0.92 goals-against average in 2,536 minutes, and she is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Latchford, a biology major and chemistry minor with a 3.84 grade-point average, saw action in 17 matches this season with 12 starts. Latchford played in 46 matches during her career with the Greyhounds, and she had one goal. is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Hughes, a biochemistry major with a 3.97 grade-point average, started all 17 matches this season and contributed a goal and an assist. In three years, Hughes has played in 49 contests with 47 starts and has three goals and two assists for the Hounds. She earned a spot on the 2022 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Pursel, an economics-finance major and communications and media studies minor with a 3.87 grade-point average, was part of the Greyhounds defense that allowed just 119 shots in 16 matches this fall. She has scored one goal in 48 career matches. Pursel was honored on the 2023 Landmark All-Conference Second Team, and she earned a spot on the 2022 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

Pyatt, a communications sciences and disorders major with a 3.70 grade-point average, led the Greyhounds in scoring in 2023 as she netted six goals and added an assist. Pyatt was selected to the 2023 Landmark All-Conference Second Team, and she was a member of the 2022 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Pyatt has registered seven goals and an assist in her career with a pair of game-winning goals in 48 career matches with 33 starts.

Scaff, an early childhood and special education major with a 3.88 grade-point average, netted her first career goal this season on a penalty kick, and she added an assist. Scaff also anchored the Moravian defense that recorded seven shutouts and allowed just 0.88 goals per match. She was named the 2023 Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team this fall. In her career as a three-year starter, Scaff has a goal and two assists, and she was a member of the 2022 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.
