NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. --- The Moravian College golf team had the low team score of the day, shooting a 302, to move into second place after the opening two rounds of the 2014-15 Empire 8 Conference Championships at Yahnundasis Golf Club Sunday.
The Greyhounds have a two-day score of 629 and trail defending champion St. John Fisher College by 13 strokes. Moravian sits five strokes ahead of The University of Scranton and Stevens Institute of Technology who are tied for third at 634. The four-round tournament will continue in April at the Hershey Country Club with the final two rounds.
Leading the Hounds on Sunday was junior Evan Dickinson, who had the second lowest round of the day with a one-over-par score of 72. Dickinson is tied for seventh of the 48 golfers in the tournament with a two-day total of 155, just fivestrokes off the lead.
Freshman Kevin Kunkle fired a 75 on Sunday, and he is also tied for seventh place with a 155 while junior Jim Maru had a 78 in the second round to be in 13th place at 158. Freshman Tyler Smith is 18th after two rounds with a 161 after a second round of 77.
Sophomore Aaron Brown shot a 78 on Sunday to sit in a tie for 21st place with a 163 while sophomore Dan Leppert is in 36th with his second straight round of 87.
Moravian will continue its fall season on Monday, September 29 at the Muhlenberg College Invitational starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Lehigh Country Club.
