Men's Lacrosse Falls at Susquehanna in Landmark Conference Action

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse team fell to Susquehanna University, 11-6, in Landmark Conference action in Selinsgrove on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore attack Mark Laratta led the Greyhounds, 3-4 overall and 0-2 in Landmark Conference play, with two goals and three assists to go with three ground balls while sophomore attack Jack Gozzard had two goals and a pair of ground balls. Sophomore attach James Carroll and sophomore midfielder Austin Adams each had one goal for Moravian while sophomore midfielder Alec Oriolo had add assist.

Sophomore goalie Kurt Dick made 14 saves to go with a team-high four ground balls while sophomore midfielder Robert Gellatly added three ground balls. Carroll also scooped up three ground balls while sophomore Rick Guerra was 7-for-18 on face-offs.

Gozzard opened the scored four and a half minutes into the contest on a feed from Laratta, and the River Hawks scored with three minutes left in the first quarter to tie the contest. Susquehanna tallied four of the five goals in the second quarter with Carroll scoring once for the Blue and Grey as the River Hawks had a 5-2 lead at halftime.

Adams netted the only goal of the third quarter as the Greyhounds trailed 5-3 after 45 minutes of action. The River Hawks scored twice to open the fourth period before Gozzard scored again with 9:20 to play. Susquehanna then netted four straight goals before Laratta found the back of the cage twice in the final 33 seconds to finish off the scoring.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, April 5 in a non-conference match at Immaculata University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
