Jaindl Posts School Record Time in Steeplechase at Swarthmore Final Qualifier

SWARTHMORE, Pa. --- Sophomore Greg Jaindl posted a school record times at the Swarthmore College Final Qualifier on Monday evening to help lead the Greyhounds to a fourth place finish.

Jaindl posted a school record time of 9:13.09 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to place 14th in the race and break Jim Lindenmuth's record set in 1990. Jaindl's time is 18th on the Track & Field Results Reporting List and the top 20 males will head to the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships in Wisconsin beginning on May 24. The men finished fourth of 45 teams with a total of 36 points.

In the other track races, freshman Zion Howard was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 10.82 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 21.75 seconds. Junior John Spirk was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.04 seconds while junior Woodrow Battle took 16th in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.22 seconds and 21st in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.09. Freshman Sean McFarland finished 18th in the 400-meter dash in 50.14 seconds.

Senior Andrew Mitchell was 16th in the 800-meter run in 1:53.19, and he was followed by sophomore Justin Beasley-Turner in 18th at 1:53.76 and senior Mike Kopach in 26th with a time of 1:55.45. Junior Devon Harris was 33rd in the 1,500-meter run in 3:55.45, the second fastest time in school history.

Junior Scott Goodwin led Moravian in the field events as he tied for third in the pole vault at 4.63 meters (15-2.25). Junior Brian Stock was 14th in the long jump at 6.10 meters (20-0.25) while freshman Shane Mastro finished 13th in the discus at 38.30 meters (125-8) and placed 15th in the shot put at 13.08 meters (42-11). Sophomore Ryan Harper finished 16th in the shot put with a distance of 12.94 meters (42-5.5).

]Moravian is slated to have one more chance to qualify individuals for the NCAA Division III National Championships when the squad competes at the Widener University Mid East Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday, May 16-17.
