Hounds Score Twice in First Five Minutes in 2-0 Shutout at Juniuata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team found the back of the next twice in the first 4:52 of action to post a 2-0 Landmark Conference win at Juniata College Saturday afternoon.

The Hounds opened the scoring in the second minute when senior forward Valentina Margiottiello sent a corner kick into the box that ended up on the foot freshman defender Paige Weiss, who found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. It marked the third time in four matches that Margiottiello connected with Weiss for a goal on a corner kick in the first 15 minutes of action.

Sophomore forward Gabby Stelzmiller needed just 3:25 to make the lead 2-0 for the Blue and Grey. Freshman midfielder Juliana Caranci sent Stelzmiller in a on a breakaway that she buried for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Moravian's defense led by junior goalie Jessica Lawton , senior defender Christine Miklas, junior defender Lauren Bertucci, freshman defender Kristen Parry and Weiss limited the Eagles to just two shots and none on goal in the match.

The Greyhounds, who improved to 7-5-1 overall and 3-2 in Landmark Conference action, moved into a tie for fourth place in the conference standings with nine points. Moravian is scheduled to get back on the pitch on Sunday, October 23 in a non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Allentown.
