Greyhounds Top Arcadia in Four Sets in Non-Conference Action

GLENSIDE, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team earned a 26-24, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20 victory over Arcadia University in non-conference action Monday evening.

The Greyhounds, 16-15 on the season, needed an extra point to win the opening set before the Knights took the second set, 25-16. Moravian finished the match by capturing the third and fourth sets by identical 25-20 scores.

Junior middle blocker Taylor Kornmann led the Hounds with 17 kills to move into 10th in school history with 984 kills, and Kornmann had a pair of service aces and a block while sophomore outside hitter Mary Zacher added 11 kills and six digs. Junior opposite hitter Jaclyn Smith contributed six kills for Moravian while sophomore outside hitter Jordyn Jacques had five kills, five digs and two blocks. Freshman middle blocker Erin Tiger added three kills and three blocks in the match.

Senior setter Megan Szkolnicki paced the Moravian offense with 35 assists to go with eight digs and a service ace while freshman setter Rebecca Purcell and senior defensive specialist Andrea Giardina each had 11 digs and two service aces. Sophomore libero Jean Markovic added nine digs, three assists and a pair of service aces.

Moravian is scheduled to close out its 2015 regular season on Saturday, October 31 in a non-conference tri-match at Wilkes University with Rutgers-Camden. The Greyhounds will take on the host Colonels at 10:30 a.m. before playing the Scarlet Knights at 12:30 p.m.
