Duddy & Tiwold Selected as Field Hockey Captains for 2016 Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey squad has selected seniors midfielder Christina Duddy and forward Erin Tiwold as captains for the 2016 season which begins Thursday evening at DeSales University.

"Erin and Christina have both been four year members of the field hockey team. They are excellent students in the classroom and have dedicated themselves to the field hockey program creating a perfect balance of student and athlete," commented Head Coach Amy Endler. "Their leadership will be integral in guiding this young team into a new era."

Duddy has played in 39 career matches with 19 starts including all 18 contests a year ago. She has contributed six goals and five assists for 17 points with one game-winning goal in her career. Duddy is also a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Tiwold has played in 43 career matches for the Hounds with 36 starts over the last two seasons. Tiwold has netted 15 goals and seven assists for a total of 37 career points, and she has scored two game-winning goals. Last fall, Tiwold set the school record with 10 points and tied another record with four goals in a win over Cedar Crest College. She is also a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Moravian will play its first home match on the new John Makuvek Field on Thursday, September 8 when the squad hosts Immaculata University at 7:00 p.m.
