Men's Cross Country Takes 8th at Dickinson Long/Short Invite

NEWVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's cross country team finished eighth of 13 teams that ran both races in the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational Saturday at Big Spring High School.

The Greyhounds were fifth of 20 teams in the short, 4,000-meter course with a three-person score of 57 points, and Moravian took 18th of 19 squads in the long 8,000-meter course with a three-person total of 222 points. The Greyhounds' combined score of 279 put them eight overall for the schools that ran both races.

In the short race, junior Dillon Farrell took fourth of 139 runners in a time of 12:15.3 on a course that is half of the normal distance for college cross country. Junior Alec Duncan was 21st in a time of 12:52.9 while sophomore Jeremy Rigotti was 54th and sophomore Maxwell Korten took 75th.

Moravian had its four freshmen run the normal 8,000-meter course, the first time they have run the distance this season. Cory Taggert led the group with a time of 29:13.8 which placed him 103rd of 188 runners. Andrew Mitchell took 126th for the Greyhounds while Andrew Reed was 143rd and Matt Werner finished in 163rd.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 5 at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus in Bethlehem.
