Farrell & Lambright Named to Academic All-District Teams

Capital One Academic All-District Team for Cross Country/Track

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College juniors Dillon Farrell and Emily Lambright have been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District IV NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Track & Field/Cross Country First Teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

By making the All-District First Team, Farrell and Lambright are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for Capital One Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on Tuesday, June 24. Moravian has had 41 Capital One Academic All-Americans®.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Beginning in 2011-12, the program is made up of four levels – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division (NAIA, Canadian colleges and junior colleges).  District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania.

"Dillon and Emily exemplify what it means to be a student-athlete," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "They are both some of the most disciplined athletes on our teams and serve as leaders by example of how to train not only when the coaches are overseeing practice, but how to properly prepare in the off-season. It's no surprise that those disciplinary characteristics translate over to the classroom as well, as both boast very strong GPAs in challenging majors. Both are very great representatives of our track/cross country program, Moravian College, and what it means to be a Division III student-athlete."

Farrell was named the 2013 Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year and earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team after winning the individual title last November for the second consecutive year. Farrell finished 11th at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional to earn All-Region accolades for a second consecutive year and competed at the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships. Farrell is a two-time member of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team, and he earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll in each season in 2013-14 for a second straight year.

Farrell, who holds the Landmark Conference record in the 10,000 meter run, was the Landmark Indoor Track Athlete of the Year this past March after winning both the 3,000 and 5,000 meter runs. Farrell was the 2012 Landmark Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year, and he has helped the cross country, men's indoor and men's outdoor track & field teams win a total of seven Landmark Conference titles in his three years at Moravian. When not competing, Farrell is the founder and President of MoCo for Coco (raising funds to fight cancer in children), and he also works with Habitat for Humanity. Farrell is majoring in nursing.

Lambright earned a spot on the 2013 Landmark Cross Country All-Conference First team with a seventh place finish as she helped the Greyhounds win their second title in three years. She posted a top time of 23:09 at NCAA Division III Mideast Regional this past November. Lambright made the All-Conference Second Team in 2011 as well, and she has helped the Greyhounds to eight Landmark titles in her eight nine seasons over cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

On the track, Lambright earned spots on the All-Conference Second Team for runner-up finishes in the mile and 3,000 meter runs indoors, and she made the Second Team outdoors with a second-place showing in the 5,000 meter run. Lambright was named to the 2013-14 Landmark All-Sportsmanship Teams during all three seasons, and she has been named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll six times and was on the 2012 Landmark Fall All-Academic Team. When she isn't competing, Lambright is the finance chair for Moco for Coco, and she plays the principle oboe in Moravian's orchestra. Lambright is majoring in economics and political science.
