20 Hounds Named to Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll

2014 Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 224 student-athletes including 20 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2014 Winter Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. The honorees were selected from all eight Landmark Conference institutions as well as associate member Marywood University in the sports of men's and women's swimming.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all winter student athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the winter season in good standing with their team. All eight Landmark Conference institutions placed at least eight athletes on the Academic Honor Roll and all six winter Landmark sports were represented on the team.

The Landmark Conference is in its seventh season of competition and includes eight institutions covering the mid-Atlantic region. The Landmark crowned six team championships this winter, and sent six programs to either the NCAA or ECAC postseason as well as five individuals to both the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field and Swimming & Diving Championships.

Moravian had student-athletes from three of its winter teams that compete in the conference with the men's and women's indoor track teams each having eight honorees. The women's basketball program had four student-athletes named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The men's indoor track team won the 2014 Landmark Conference Championship, its fifth straight title and had three seniors named to the Landmark Conference Honor Roll – Samuel Ansman, Craig Arner and David Cariello. Also making the honor roll were juniors Dillon Farrell, Mike Hofmann, Chris Ossont  and sophomores John Barr and Jeremy Rigotti. Farrell earned Landmark Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors while earning First Team accolades in both the 3,000-meter and the 5,000-meter runs.

The women's indoor track and field team won the 2014 Landmark Conference Championship, its seventh straight indoor conference title. Juniors Dana Fineman, Jessie Goldberg, Jenny Kratch, Emily Lambright, Brielle Sutter, Claire Del Casale and Devon Bedell all made the Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll, along with sophomore Christelle Reglas.

Sutter and Reglas earned All-Conference First Team honors as part of Moravian's winning 4x200-meter relay squad. Sutter was on the Second Team in the 200-meter dash and in the 4x400-meter relay while Reglas made the Second Team with a runner-up finish in the long jump. Lambright had second place finishes in both the mile and 3,000-meter runs while Del Casale was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run. Fineman was second in the pole vault while junior Kratch placed second in the 20-pound weight throw to earn Second Team honors.

The women's basketball team finished their season with a record of 20-8 after finishing as the runner-up in the Landmark Conference tournament as well as earning an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. There were four seniors on the team honored on the Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll, guards Danielle Brogan, Alyssa Hann and Katie O'Rourke and forward Laura Jordan. O'Rourke was also a member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team this winter while Jordan landed a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.
