Lorah Honored as Corvias/ECAC DIII Field Athlete of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. --- Moravian College senior thrower Timothy Lorah has been honored as the Corvias/ECAC Division III South Field Athlete of the Week for his performances last Saturday.

Lorah finished fifth in the College Men's Javelin Throw College event in the 120th Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field with a season-best and ECAC qualifying distance of 65.50 meters (214 feet, 10 inches). Lorah's mark moved him back into first with the top throw in the in Division III on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list, and the toss came on Lorah's first throw of the competition. The top 20 males on the TFRRS list at the end of the season will compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University. Lorah finished the preliminary round with throws of 64.47 and 64.56 meters. In the finals, he had marks of 62.47, 63.25 and 62.43 meters.

"Tim hadn't thrown well at our home week so we were happy with the way he bounced back at Penn Relays to have his best throw of the season," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "He showed us that he can perform when the pressure is on such as at a big meet like the Penn Relays, and it makes us believe he can replicate that performance in some of our postseason meets."

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, May 3 on the opening day of the 2014 Landmark Conference Championships at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point, New York.
