Walker's High Jump Leads Men in Tiger Open at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. --- Freshman Kahron Walker tied the third-best high jump in school history at six feet, six inches to lead the Moravian College men's indoor track & field team with a third-place finish at the Tiger Open hosted by Princeton University Saturday.

Walker cleared the bar at 1.98 meters in his second attempt at the height, which is an ECAC qualifying mark and ties him for 22nd in the nation on the Track & Field Results Reporting System. The top 15 individuals in each event will head to the national championships in March.

Senior Kristopher Joint was second in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 14.65 meters (48 feet, 3/4 inch) on this sixth and final jump of the meet while sophomore Albert Myers was sixth in the long jump at 6.69 meters (21 feet, 11 1/2 inches) on his first leap of the finals.

Sophomore Ryan Karnopp placed fifth in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying mark of 4.65 meters (15 feet, three inches), a height that moves him to ninth in the nation on the TFRRS list.

In the throws, sophomore Parker Munson was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.59 meters (44 feet, seven inches) on his second throw while senior Timothy Lorah was sixth in the 35-pound weight throw at 13.51 meters (44 feet, four inches) on his last toss of the finals. Junior Jeffrey Gallagher took seventh in the weight throw at 13.26 meters (43 feet, six inches) on his fifth of six attempts.

On the track, senior Yacine Zerdoum finished sixth in the 60-meter dash finals in a time of 7.30 seconds after qualifying eighth in 7.26 seconds. Senior David Cariello was fifth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles in 8.85 seconds after a fourth-place qualifying time of 8.72 meters.

Freshman Austin Gardener took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.28 seconds and was followed by Zerdoum in fifth at 23.43 seconds and sophomore Gavin Bailey in ninth in 23.64 seconds.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 1 at the John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University.
