Joint, Karnopp & Lorah Heading to NCAA Championship Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio --- Moravian College has qualified three student-athletes to compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University from Thursday, May 22 through Saturday, May 24.

Senior Kristopher Joint is qualified in both the long jump and the triple jump. Joint, a three-time All-American is making his second trip to nationals this year after earning All-America honors in both events indoors back in March with a runner-up finish in the triple jump and a sixth place in the long jump. Joint, who is heading to nationals for the fifth time, has the best qualifying mark and a school and Landmark Conference record leap of 15.10 meters (49 feet, 6.5 inches) in the triple jump and will compete in the event on Saturday at noon. Joint enters the long jump with the second overall mark of 7.46 meters (24 feet, 5.75 inches) at the ECAC Championships last week, and he is scheduled to compete in the event on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Sophomore Ryan Karnopp is making his second appearance at the NCAA Championships this year after earning All-America honors with a seventh place finish in the pole vault at the NCAA Indoor meet back in March. Karnopp will be competing in the pole vault after qualifying in a tie for 15th at a height of 4.86 meters (15 feet, 11.25 inches). The pole vault is scheduled for Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

Senior Timothy Lorah is making his third trip to the national championships to compete in the javelin throw, and he was an All-American last spring with an eighth place finish and placing ninth as a sophomore. Lorah enters the meet ranked second in event with a toss of 65.50 meters (214 feet, 11 inches), and he will compete on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
