Karnopp Leads Greyhounds at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- Sophomore Ryan Karnopp led the Moravian College men's track & field student-athletes competing Friday at the 120th Penn Relays hosted by The University of Pennsylvania at Historic Franklin Field.

Karnopp was tied for 10th in the College Men's Pole Vault Eastern at 4.75 meters (15 feet, seven inches). He passed at the opening height of 4.50 meters before clearing 4.65 meters on his second attempt. Karnopp made it over the 4.75 meter bar on his first jump but he missed his three attempts at 4.85 meters.

Junior Parker Munson was 22nd in the College Men's Shot Put College with a toss of 13.45 meters (44 feet, 1.5 inches) on his first throw of the meet.

On the track, Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team placed seventh in the Pop Haddleton MAC race Thursday evening with a time of 3:27.46. Senior Yacine Zerdoum ran the leadoff leg in 51.33 seconds while sophomore John Barr ran the next leg in 52.15 seconds. After sophomore Gavin Bailey ran 52.98 in the third leg, freshman Cory Taggert anchored the squad with a lap of 50.92 seconds.

Earlier Friday, Barr anchored the Greyhounds' 4x100-meter relay squad that posted a time of 43.72 seconds. Freshman Austin Gardener led off the race and was followed by freshman Matt Barnett and senior Craig Arner.

Moravian will have two more competitors on the final day of the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 26 while the rest of the team will compete at the Lehigh University games.
