Lorah Named Landmark Men's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Senior Timothy Lorah of the Moravian College men's track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Lorah opened the Greyhounds' 2014 outdoor season by winning the javelin at the Golden Rams Invitational hosted by West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He had the winning mark of 63.62 meters (208 feet, nine inches) on his opening throw of the meet. Lorah moved to the top of the Track & Field Results Reporting System list in the event. The top 20 men and 22 women in each event will compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in late May.

"It was just his first meet and on a grass runway, so to start off the season with that throw we're pretty satisfied," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "You never know for sure, but that throw will very likely get him to the NCAA's, so it's nice to have that pressure off already in March so we can focus on getting bigger throws and peaking when it counts."

In his other two throws in the preliminaries, Lorah also had distance of 52.44 meters and 60.01 meters. He recorded a toss of 58.69 meters on his first attempt of the final before fouling on his final two attempts.

Moravian's entire team will be in action on Saturday, March 29 at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet beginning at 10:00 a.m.
