Men's Indoor Track & Field Selected to Win Another Landmark Conference Title

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College men's indoor track & field squad has been picked to capture its fifth consecutive Landmark Conference title in a preseason poll of the conference coaches.

The Greyhounds, who have won five total Landmark Indoor Championships including the last four, received a total of 47 points and four first-place votes to finish eight points ahead of Susquehanna University, which garnered the other two first-place votes.

"We look forward to both the expectations and challenges that the preseason selection brings," stated third-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "As with every year, and as with the women's team this season, the poll doesn't mean much unless we perform in competition. Susquehanna will give us a run in many events. We may have an advantage in individual standing, but they will threaten as a team at the conference championships. They are very consistent. We would love to prove the voters right, of course."

Moravian has a strong core returning that earned eight indoor All-Conference honors and 14 outdoor All-Conference honors. Senior All-American jumper Kristopher Joint  highlights the team that also returns senior David Cariello and junior Dillon Farrell. Farrell looks to fill the hole left by the graduation of Donnie Noble, the reigning Track Athlete of the Year, while Cariello should help make up for the graduation of Travis King, who won several Landmark triple jump titles during his career. Coach Baumann has also added depth in the throws for the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds begin their indoor season at the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals Invitational this weekend on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7.

The 2014 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships will be hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday, March 1.
