36 Greyhounds Named to Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll

2014 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Roll

TOWNSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has recognized 330 student-athletes including 36 from Moravian College by selecting them for the 2014 Spring Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

The Landmark Academic Honor Roll recognizes all spring student-athletes of sophomore standing or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. The student-athletes must complete the spring season in good standing with their team. Of the 330 student-athletes recognized this spring, 163 are repeat honorees having been awarded in 2012 and/or 2013. There are 64 seniors who have been named to the Honor Roll all three years they have been eligible. The list also includes 83 student-athletes who were named All-Landmark in their sport and 65 who won a Landmark Conference Championship this season.

Moravian had student-athletes from six of its spring teams that compete in the conference with the softball team leading the way with nine honorees. The men's and women's outdoor track & field teams each had eight members named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll with the baseball and women's tennis teams each having four honorees and three from the men's tennis team.

The softball team finished its season with a 29-8 record and a 20th consecutive postseason appearance. Six seniors made the academic honor roll Leann Ventriglia, Cassie Ernst, Eavan Matz, Elizabeth Tillou, Miranda Sergas and Taylor Mihalik along with juniors Dior George and Lizzie Mack and sophomore Lindsay Sullivan.

The women's outdoor track team won its seventh straight Landmark Conference title earlier in May. Juniors Dana Fineman, Jessica Goldberg, Jenny Kratch, Clarie Del Casale, Devon Bedell, Emily Lambright and Brielle Sutter earned sports on the Academic Honor Roll along with sophomore Christelle Reglas.

The men's outdoor track squad was the runner-up at the Landmark meet and has three seniors – Samuel Ansman, Craig Arner and David Cariello on the Academic Honor Roll. Also earning spots were juniors Dillon Farrell, Mike Hofmann and Chris Ossont and sophomores John Barr and Jeremy Rigotti.

The baseball team captured its second berth to the NCAA Division III National Championships Tournament, and No. 21 ranked Greyhounds, 32-10, will begin their trip on Wednesday, May 14 with a first round game versus Haverford College in Moosic at PNC Field with first pitch at 1:15 p.m. The baseball squad had four players make the academic honor roll with seniors Jason Jamula and Robert Solano, junior Justin Pilchman and sophomore Cameron Leon earning the honor.

Four women's tennis players were named to the academic honor roll including seniors Erica Venuti, Olivia Sonnabend and Katie Zien and sophomore Courtnie Lambert.

Three men's tennis players, junior Lewis Cooper and sophomores Matt Tuorto and C.J. Widdifield, earned academic honor roll honors.
