Hanson Named Landmark Baseball Player of the Week Again

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior outfielder Matt Hanson of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the second straight week for his performance over the last seven days.

Hanson helped the Greyhounds to a 6-1 record last week, hitting .476 for the week with 10 hits, a double, a triple, nine runs scored and seven RBIs. He also had a .619 slugging percentage, and Hanson drew five walks for a .571 on-base percentage. Hanson hit safely in the six games he played in during the week including a 5-for-8 performance in the Greyhounds sweep of Juniata College on Tuesday. Hanson was also 2-for-4 in Moravian's 5-4, 10-inning series opening win over Susquehanna on Saturday. He made six putouts from his right field position.

"Matt had a good week," Head Coach Paul Engelhardt said. "He has been very consistent all season. We feel he hasn't really heated up just yet, but his consistency has been nice to have in our line up. Matt works hard to be a leader, and to increase his baseball skill daily. It is nice that he is recognized for his efforts."

The Greyhounds, who are 18-5 overall after having a 12-game winning streak snapped on Sunday and 9-2 in Landmark action, will get back on Gillespie Field on Tuesday, April 8 when they host Drew University in the final game of a Landmark series starting at 4:00 p.m.
