Baseball Ranked in Both National Polls for 3rd Straight Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team remained No. 22 in the country this week in the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25, and the Greyhounds slipped two spots to No. 24 in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll announced Tuesday.

The Hounds, who have tied the school record with 31 wins this spring, are 31-10 overall and were the top seed in the 2014 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 14-4 regular season mark in conference action. Moravian was No. 22 in both polls last week, and the Hounds were ranked No. 21 two weeks ago, making the Top 25 for the first time in school history. The Greyhounds had received votes in seven of the first nine D3baseball.com polls this season before jumping into the poll two weeks ago. Moravian has 94 points this week after a high of 142 points.

The squad was ranked 29th in the ABCA poll three weeks ago before moving to 21st on April 22. The Greyhounds have 105 points in that poll this week.

Moravian has defeated three nationally-ranked teams this spring including a win over then No. 6 Kean on April 14. Kean is No. 20 in the D3baseball poll and No. 19 in the ABCA poll this week. The Hounds also defeated then No. 17 Keystone College on February 23 and then No. 25 Adrian (Mich.) College on March 3, and Adrian is still receiving votes in the D3baseball poll while Keystone received votes in the ABCA poll this week.

The Greyhounds' 31 victories also include a pair of wins over Heidelberg (Ohio) University on March 2, and Heidelberg is currently 31-9 and ranked No. 13 in the D3baseball poll and No. 11 in the ABCA poll this week.

Moravian's final game of the regular season will be versus Rowan University on May 9, and the Profs are currently No. 6 in both polls.

The Greyhounds will return to action on in the game versus Rowan with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field.
