Baseball Moves Up to No. 21 in Both National Polls

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team moved back up to No. 21 in the country this week in both the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 and the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll announced Tuesday.

The Hounds have set a school record with 32 wins this spring and are 32-10 overall. Moravian received the top seed to the NCAA Division III Misericordia Regional that begins on Wednesday, May 14, and the Greyhounds were 14-4 in the Landmark Conference regular season to earn the top seed in the Landmark Tournament.

Moravian was No. 22 in the D3baseball poll last week and No. 24 in the ABCA poll. Prior to that, the Greyhounds were No. 22 in both polls two weeks ago and No. 21 three weeks ago, making the Top 25 for the first time in school history. The Greyhounds had received votes in seven of the first nine D3baseball.com polls this season before jumping into the poll a month ago. Moravian has 124 points in the D3baseball poll this week after a high of 142 points on April 22.

The squad was ranked 29th in the ABCA poll a month ago before moving to 21st on April 22. The Greyhounds have 130 points in that poll this week.

Moravian has defeated four nationally-ranked teams this spring including a win over then No. 6 Rowan (N.J.) University on May 9. Rowan is ranked No. 9 in both polls this week. The Greyhounds defeated then No. 6 Kean (N.J.) University on April 14, and Kean ranked No. 19 in the D3baseball poll and No. 18 in the ABCA poll this week. The Hounds also defeated then No. 17 Keystone College on February 23 and then No. 25 Adrian (Mich.) College on March 3, and Adrian is still receiving votes in both polls while Keystone received votes in the ABCA poll again this week.

The Greyhounds' 32 victories also include a pair of wins over Heidelberg (Ohio) University on March 2, and Heidelberg is currently 31-11 and ranked No. 18 in the D3baseball poll and No. 17 in the ABCA poll this week.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Wednesday, May 14 when the squad opens the NCAA Misericorida Regional with a game versus eighth seed Haverford College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. at PNC Field in Moosic.
