Wagner Selected Landmark Baseball Pitcher of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Sophomore Brett Wagner of the Moravian College baseball squad has been selected as the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance Friday.

Wagner tossed his first career shutout in the Greyhounds' 10-0 win versus Drew University last Friday to start a four-game conference winning streak for the Hounds. Wagner scattered two hits in seven innings and also struck out three batters while not allowing a walk and facing just three batters over the minimum.

"Brett pitched awesome; he came out and really competed well," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "He threw his three pitches for strikes and throwing a two-hit shutout with no walks is exactly what we needed. It says a lot about him knowing it was a conference game and he was facing one of Drew's top pitchers.

"It's a great honor for him," Engelhardt continued. "He did a great job in Florida for us and he carried it over to his start on Friday. Knowing we had five games in three days, we needed some long starts. Keeping our arms fresh for the weekend was huge. Brett would be the first to give credit to his teammates, but he deserves it all."

Moravian, which is 10-4 overall and 4-1 in Landmark action, is slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 26 in a non-conference game at No. 4 Kean University starting at 3:30 p.m. The game will be the third of the season for the Greyhounds against a nationally-ranked squad.
