Case Named Landmark Baseball Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior shortstop Colin Case of the Moravian College baseball team have been selected as the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for his performance last week.

Case helped the Hounds to a 2-2 record in four games since last Monday as the Greyhounds completed the trip the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida with a 4-2 mark to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Case hit .643 in the four games with nine hits in 14 at-bats to go with seven runs scored, two RBIs, a double and a triple. He also had a .737 on-base percentage after a pair of walks and three hit by pitch, and Case posted an .857 slugging percentage during the week. In the field, he had four putouts and 14 assists from his shortstop position.

Case hit safely in all four games with a 4-for-5 game in a 9-7 loss to Bluffton University. In the Greyhounds, 9-8, 10-inning win over then No. 25 Adrian College, Case had a hit in his only official at-bat to go with his two walks, two hit by pitch and a pair of runs scored.

"Colin played extremely well offensively for the week," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "Being our leadoff hitter, Colin set the tempo for our entire team with every at-bat. His aggressiveness helped set up the team to follow. This was in spite of being quite banged up after our first two games on Sunday. His toughness, along with his results, leads the team toward being mentally and physically tough."

Moravian was scheduled to play its home opener on Wednesday, March 12 versus rival Muhlenberg College but that game has been postponed until Wednesday, April 9 due to field conditions as Gillespie Field is still covered by snow. The Greyhounds are slated to begin their 2014 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, March 15 when Drew University comes to Bethlehem for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m.
