Wagner Named to D3baseball.com Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Sophomore pitcher Brett Wagner of the Moravian College baseball team has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance last Friday.

Wagner is the fourth Greyhounds' player to make the D3baseball.com Team of the Week in the month of March and the second pitcher to earn the honor. To see the complete Week 6 team, visit http://www.d3baseball.com/awards/team-of-the-week/2014/week06.

Wagner made his first start of the season and threw his first career shutout in the Greyhounds' 10-0 win versus Drew University last Friday. Wagner faced just three batters over the minimum in a seven-inning contest, scattering a pair of hits and walking no one. He also recorded three strikeouts in the game as he improved to 2-0 on the mound this season in 14 innings of action.

"Brett looked phenomenal on Friday with command of all three of his pitches," stated Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "He knew that we had five conference games over three days and needed good outings from all of our starters, who were going to be pitching against the top pitchers from the other squads.

"Brett has looked great all season with a long relief stint in Florida for a win over a nationally-ranked squad, and he has carried it over to the return North," Engelhardt continued. "This is a great honor for him to be on the D3baseball Team of the Week, and for the program to have four players selected this month."

Moravian, which is 10-4 overall and 4-1 in Landmark action, is slated to return to action on Wednesday, March 26 in a non-conference game at No. 4 Kean University starting at 3:30 p.m. The game will be the third of the season for the Greyhounds against a nationally-ranked squad.
