Cariello, King & Sutter Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Senior Travis King, junior David Cariello and Brielle Sutter from the Moravian College men's and women's track & field teams have been named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honorees for the 2013 season.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.

There were a total of 233 males and 367 females to earn USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic honors this past spring.

King made his first appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in May, and he finished 12th in the triple jump at 14.32 meters (46 feet, 11 ¾ inches), which came on his second of three attempts in the first flight of the preliminaries. King, who was Moravian's Senior Male Athlete Award winner this year, had a 3.53 GPA while graduating with a degree in business management.

Cariello did not compete at the NCAA meet; however, he was tied for 33rdon the NCAA POP list in the 110-meter hurdles this spring with a time of 14.91 seconds. Cariello has a 3.40 GPA and is majoring in computer science.

Sutter also made her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor meet this spring. She ran a school record time of 56.97 seconds in the 400-meter dash preliminaries on the second day and finished fifth of eight competitors in her heat and 17th of the 21 runners in the race. Sutter's time was the first in school history below the 57 second mark. Sutter is majoring in nursing at Moravian and has a 3.54 GPA.
