Farrell Competes at NCAA Division III Championships

HANOVER, Ind. – Junior Dillon Farrell of the Moravian College men's cross country team competed in the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championships at Hanover (Ind.) College on Saturday afternoon.

Farrell started strong, but had to withdraw from the 8,000-meter race due to an illness.

When the gun sounded, Farrell looked as sharp as ever, immediately working his way to the lead pack and helping set the pace for the opening 1K. At the 3K split, Farrell was unofficially clocked in 27th place out of 276 runners. The junior harrier began to fall back around the 5K split before withdrawing.

The National Championships capped a successful 2013 season for Farrell, who captured the Landmark Conference Runner of the Year award after winning the individual league crown on Nov. 2 before being named an All-Mideast Region runner for his 11th place finish at the national qualifier last weekend.

Farrell also broke his own school record in the 8K this fall with a 24:35 finish at the Princeton University Invitational.
