Greyhounds Drop Landmark Conference Game to No. 21 Catholic

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad dropped an 88-54 decision to visiting No. 21 The Catholic University of America in Landmark Conference action Saturday in Johnston Hall.

How It Happened

  • The Cardinals hit the opening basket of the game with a three-pointer while senior forward Sam Osorio connected on a jumper for the Hounds. Moravian trailed 10-7 after a three-pointer from freshman guard/forward Lizzi Lustig at the 6:03 mark; however, Catholic held a 33-18 advantage after ten minutes of action
  • The 18 points for the Greyhounds in the first quarter are tied for the most the Blue & Grey have netted in the first period of a game this season and the second time this week that Moravian scored 18 points in the first quarter
  • The Cardinals stretched the lead to as many as 24 points in the second quarter before heading to the locker room with a 50-28 edge
  • Catholic would lead by as many as 36 points during the second half 

Inside the Numbers

  • Osorio led the Hounds with 17 points to go with six rebounds and a pair of steals while freshman center Grace Steffen added nine points, seven boards and two steals
  • Sophomore guard Jayda Cartagena netted eight points to go with two rebounds and two steals while junior forward Brielle Guarente and Lustig each scored six points with Guarente registering six rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists while Lustig grabbed two boards
  • Freshman guard Emma Altmire tossed in three points while junior guard Mikayla Anderson recorded four rebounds and two points
  • Sophomore guard Juliana Vassallo netted two points and had a pair of steals while freshman forward Olivia Fanning made a free throw for the first point of her career
  • The Hounds made 18-of-52 field goals, 3-of-11 three-pointers and 15-of-21 free throws in the contest
