Carisone Tosses 1-Hitter in Landmark Tournament Win vs. Catholic

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Freshman Amanda Carisone tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the second seeded and No. 24 ranked Moravian College softball team to a 2-0 victory over third seed The Catholic University of America in the opening round of the 2015 Landmark Conference Tournament at Susquehanna University Friday.

The Greyhounds, who won their 16th straight game to improve to 31-4 on the year, advance to the winner's bracket game at 3:30 p.m. to face fourth seed Elizabethtown College, which upset the top seeded Crusaders, 3-1, in the opening game Friday.

Carisone is now 17-1 in her debut season with seven shutouts, and she allowed just a hit in the third inning. Carisone added one strikeout in the victory.

Moravian had six hits in the game with sophomore left fielder Julie Siragusa going 2-for-3.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in first inning. Senior first baseman Jenn Dalickas drew a walk to lead off the inning. It was Dalickas' school-record 75th career walk, and extended her season record to 38 this spring. Junior right fielder Mary Schlosbon then put down a sacrifice bunt to move Dalickas into scoring position. Senior center fielder Dior George also drew a walk, and after an out, senior second baseman Lizzie Mack ripped a single up the middle to score Dalickas.

Moravian would make the lead 2-0 with a run in the top of the sixth inning. Schlosbon led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by George. Siragusa singled to put runners on the corners and bring Mack to the plate. Mack hit a ball up the middle for the out at second base and Schlosbon raced home.

Catholic would get a runner on in the seventh by an error before the Greyhounds recorded the final out.
