McGuire and Wright Named to LVSCB Team of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Alexis Wright and junior Brandon McGuire from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year by the LVSCB Organization at its final luncheon of the 2015-16 season at DeSales University.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the six small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

McGuire, a forward, has led the team in scoring with 17.3 points per game and rebounds with 8.8 rebounds per game. McGuire has also added 30 assists, 25 three pointers, 20 blocks and 15 steals on the season.

"Brandon has had a great year. He has been consistent from start to finish," commented first-year Head Coach Justin Potts '00. "Brandon has worked hard all year and been a great captain and leader for our young team. His ability to score inside and out makes him a tough matchup every night. His skill set fits great with our up tempo style and he has done a great job rebounding the ball at both ends all year."

Joining McGuire on the Team of the Year were Cody Deal of DeSales, Rasheed Moore of East Stroudsburg, Ryan Connolly of Kutztown and Nick Rindock of Muhlenberg. Rasheed Moore was named the Peter Nevin Men's Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season by the LVSCB Organization.

Wright, a forward, has helped lead the Blue and Grey to an 18-6 overall record and an 11-4 Landmark Conference record. The Greyhounds will play in the Landmark Conference tournament on Wednesday, February 24 versus an opponent and time that will be announced later. Wright is now Moravian's leading rebound (1,225) and second highest scorer (1,663) in school history. She is also second in blocks (271), has the school records in field goals attempted (1,605) and free throws attempted (619).

"Alexis has had a tremendous career and being recognized at the luncheon was a culmination of this terrific year and career," said Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She is as talented a player that I have ever coached. Continuously getting doubled and tripled teamed, she still finds a way to score and rebound consistently. In addition, Alexis will block shots, grab steals and passes the ball unselfishly. It has been a pleasure to coach Alexis over the course of her career here at Moravian."

Joining Wright on the Team of the Year were Taylor Olsey of Cedar Crest College, Morgan McCollian of DeSales University, Allison Howared of East Stroudsburg University, Natalya Lee of Kutztown and Brandi Vallely of Muhlenberg. Vallely was named the Peter Nevin Women's Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season by the LVSCB Organization.
