McGuire Selected as Corvias ECAC DIII South Men's Basketball Player of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Junior forward Brandon McGuire of the Moravian College men's basketball team has been selected as the Corvias ECAC Division III South Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance last week.

McGuire, who was also named the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week this past Monday, returned to the Hounds' lineup last week after missing a pair of games with an injury. McGuire averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for Moravian, and he connected on 60.7 percent (17-for-28) of his shots from the floor, 46.2 percent (6-for-13) of his three-pointers and 70 percent (7-for-10) of his free throws to go along with a two blocked shots while playing 50 minutes during the week.

McGuire netted a team-leading 28 points on 11-for-18 shooting including 5-for-8 on three-pointers in the Greyhounds' 88-58 victory versus Haverford College, and he added eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in the contest. McGuire completed the week with 19 points and seven boards in Moravian's 88-64 win versus Penn State Lehigh Valley to finish the first semester of action.

"Brandon had a great week coming back from an injury, and he has been one of our most consistent players all year," commented Head Coach Justin Potts. "By being able to score both inside and out, Brandon is very difficult to cover, and his ability to grab rebounds at both ends of the court is an important part of our team success. Brandon's leadership and work ethic are great examples for our younger players."

Moravian, which sits at 5-4 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action this winter, has begun a 21-day layoff for the end of the semester, and the Greyhounds will not return to action until Saturday, January 2, 2016 when the Blue and Grey head to Susquehanna University for a Landmark Conference game tipping off at 2:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
