McGuire Named Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior forward Brandon McGuire has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

McGuire, who returned to the line-up last Wednesday after missing a pair of games due to an injury, averaged 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest in a 2-0 week for the Greyhounds. He also shot 60.7 percent (17-for-28) from the floor, 46.2 percent (6-for-13) behind the three-point line and 70 percent (7-for-10) at the foul line to go with a pair of blocked shots while playing just 50 minutes during the week.

McGuire had a team-high 28 points on 11-for-18 shooting including 5-for-8 on three-pointers in the Greyhounds' 88-58 win over Haverford College last Wednesday. McGuire also contributed eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. He finished the week with 19 points and seven boards in Moravian's 88-64 win versus Penn State Lehigh Valley.

"Brandon had a great week, and he has been very consistent for us all year," noted first-year Head Coach Justin Potts. "His ability to score inside and out make him a tough cover and his rebounding ability at both ends is very important to our team success. Brandon's work ethic and leadership are great examples for our young guys."

Moravian, which is 5-4 overall and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action this winter, is on a 21-day layoff for the end of the semester, and the Greyhounds are not scheduled to return to action until Saturday, January 2, 2016 when the Blue and Grey head to Susquehanna University for a Landmark Conference game tipping off at 2:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
