LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Moravian College softball team has had 10 players named 2017-18 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America Scholar-Athlete. The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2017-18 academic year, and the list included 1,600 players for NCAA Division III.

The 10 players honored included then-seniors first baseman Jean Markovic, catcher Janae Matos, pitcher Josie Novak and infielder Megan Taylor, current seniors infielder Julia DeMarco (Scranton, Pa./Holy Cross HS), outfielder Ashley Gindle and third baseman Madison Shaneberger, current junior outfielder Emily Stanilious and current sophomores pitcher Meghan Bauer and second baseman Shannon Brogan.

The Greyhounds, who were also one of 102 NCAA Division III schools to be named Easton/NFCA Academic Teams, posted a 36-8 record last spring, winning the Landmark Conference Championship and the NCAA Division III Ewing, N.J. Regional before ending the season in the NCAA Division III Super Regionals.

"We are very proud of our scholar-athletes that have continued the success of Moravian Softball both in the classroom and on the playing field," stated Head Coach John Byrne.

Novak was selected as the 2018 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year and named to the All-Conference First Team along with Shaneberger. Markovic and Brogan were both selected to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team last spring.

The Greyhounds will start their 2019 season on Sunday, March 3 when they play their first of ten games at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida.
