Women's Cross Country Ranked Regionally

NEW ORELEANS---The Moravian College women's cross country team has earned their place in the second 2014 NCAA Division III regional rankings list that was released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Greyhounds are ranked tenth for the first time in the past three years.

"In any sport, especially cross country where times vary so much from course to course it becomes a bit of an apples to oranges comparison when trying to effectively rank teams," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Additionally, a ranking means absolutely nothing when we toe the line on November 15th, we've got to put in the work until then and then produce on that day. With that said, it certainly was one of our team goals this year to finish in the top 10, and it's the first time we've been ranked since 2011 so it is nice to receive that recognition"

The women took first place at the Lehigh University Invitational for their first meet of the season and placed 8th out of 35 at the Dickinson Long/Short Course Invitational on September 20. The Hounds are led by senior Emily Lambright placing fifth at Lehigh with a time of 23:44.99 out of 70 runners in the White 6K, and she was 27th overall. Lambright posted a 24:08.93 to place 32nd overall at Dickinson College.

The Blue and Grey compete again on October 4 at the 41st Annual Brooks Paul Run at Lehigh University.
