Lambright Selected Landmark Senior Scholar-Athlete for Women's Cross Country

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior Emily Lambright has been selected as the 2014 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Women's Cross Country.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors. Chosen at the conclusion of each sport season, the six fall honorees are being announced last week and this week.

"Emily is everything you could want in a student-athlete," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "She has maintained a 4.0 GPA through seven semesters and has been heavily involved within the major as a tutor and working on a research project in Bangladesh this summer. As an athlete, her work ethic is second-to-none and because of that she transformed herself into the All Region cross country athlete she was this year. She's been a great leader and a tremendous asset to the Moravian College community, not just our distance running program."

Lambright earned All-Conference First Team by placing fourth at the 2014 Landmark meet at Goucher College. It was her third appearance on the All-Conference squad with a First Team selection in 2013 after a seventh place finish at the conference championships and a Second Team spot in 2011 after taking 11th place as a freshman. Lambright also earned her first NCAA Division III Mideast All-Region selection this fall by placing 29th in a career-best time of 22:54.1 on the 6,000-meter course hosted by Dickinson College.

She helped the Greyhounds capture Landmark team titles in 2011 and 2013. Lambright has also been part of six Landmark Championships with the indoor and outdoor track & field squads and is a three-time All-Conference Second Team honoree on the track.

Off the course, Lambright has maintained a 4.00 GPA with a dual major in economics and political science and a minor in mathematics. Lambright has made Moravian's Dean's List in each of her first six semesters, and she is a three-time selection to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll and a seven-time Landmark Academic Honor Roll selection including track & field. Last spring, Lambright was named to the Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division III Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team.

When she isn't on running or in class, Lambright has been active around campus as well as off of it. She is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the National Honor Society for Economics and Business, the finance chair for Moco for Coco which is group on campus working to raise awareness of pediatric cancer, and the principle oboe in the Moravian College Orchestra.
