Lambright, Brockett & Troisi Garner All-Conference Accolades

TOWSON, Md. --- Senior Emily Lambright garnered a spot on the 2014 Landmark All-Conference First Team after the Landmark Conference Championships this past weekend while Moravian College sophomore Meg Brockett and freshman Jillian Troisi earned spots on the Second Team.

Lambright placed fourth on Saturday in a time of 23:21.60 on the 6,000-meter course to make her third appearance on the All-Conference squad and second straight on the First Team after a seventh place finish a year ago. The top seven runners in the meet earn First Team honors while those finishing from eighth to 14th make the Second Team. Lambright finished 11th as a freshman in 2011 when the Greyhounds hosted the meet in the snow at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus to earn Second Team honors, and she placed 16th as a sophomore.

"Emily has really evolved as a runner," commented Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "When she first came to Moravian, she was more of a middle distance runner who preferred a flat track-like cross country course. Saturday was the antithesis of that with a lot of hills, turns, tree roots, etc., and she excelled on the course. We talked beforehand about staying relaxed within the top 5-6 runners and being patient until the race started to "break." She did just that, used her knowledge of the course to her advantage, and ran a gutsy last two miles to finish 4th."

Brockett was 10th this past weekend with a time of 23:52.90 for her second straight spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Brockett was 12th at the Landmark meet in 2013.

"We were shooting for somewhere between about 7th and 10th, and like Emily we discussed staying relaxed within that group early on in the race so that she'd be ready to attack the hills and harder portions of the course after the mile (which is virtually all downhill), stated Baumann. "She's been a very steady, dependable runner for us all year, and Saturday was no different."

Troisi placed one spot and four seconds behind Brockett on Saturday to earn All-Conference Second Team honors.

"Jillian has been a really pleasant surprise for us throughout the season," Baumann said. "The first few weeks of the season, she was at the back of our training group, but then there was one race simulation workout we ran the week of the Dickinson Invite in September where something all of a sudden clicked for her and she's been steadily progressing ever since. She went from about the 10th or 11th fastest runner on our team to the 11th fastest runner in the conference in about two months."

The Hounds have a week to rest before returning to compete at the 2014 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional being hosted by Dickinson College at Big Spring High School on November 15.
