TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University junior quarterback Jared Jenkins and freshman quarterback/kicker Avery Koser have been selected as the Landmark Conference Football Offensive and Special Teams Athletes of the Week for their performance last week in the Greyhounds' 58-34 win over Keystone College in the first-ever Landmark Conference contest.
Jenkins completed 27-for-40 passes for 294 yards to go with four touchdowns in the victory with scoring strikes of 4, 39, 12 and 5 yards. He added seven carries for 53 yards including a four-yard touchdown run, and Jenkins tossed three two-point conversions in the game to total 36 points in the afternoon. His 27 completions marked the third time Jenkins has completed that many passes in a single game in just eight career contests.
"Jared continues to outwork himself each passing day," commented first-year Head Coach Jeff Long. "It's exciting to see him set this example every day and produce on game day! Success has clues!"
Koser kicked off for the first time this season for Moravian, averaging 56.2 yards on eight kickoffs on Saturday. Koser also caught a five-yard touchdown pass for the Hounds' final score of the game, and he made three tackles on special teams.
"Avery is a fantastic young man who loves playing football," stated Long. "A true "Ball Guy", he can do anything on the field, prepares like a starter each day and wants to help his team in any way he can. This is just the beginning for the start of a bright career."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 7 with a Landmark Conference game at The Catholic University of America kicking off at noon in Washington, D.C.
