Field Hockey Falls to Scranton in Landmark Conference Opener

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team opened its 2016 Landmark Conference season Saturday in a match at the University of Scranton as the Greyhounds fell to the Royals, 6-1.

The Greyhounds would get on the scoreboard in the 52nd minute when sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik netted her first goal of the season off of a pass from senior forward Erin Tiwold.

Senior goalie Megan Kanyuk made 11 saves to become the third player in school history to reach 400 career saves with 405 stops in her career. Freshmen defenders Lindsay Wenzel and Gillian Bartholomew each had a defensive save for the Greyhounds.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 28 when the Blue and Grey host Albright College in a non-conference match on John Makuvek Field beginning at 7:00 p.m.
