Schlofer Nets First Collegiate Goal Versus Drew

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team out-shot visiting Drew University but it was the Rangers that earned a 2-1 decision in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Thursday evening.

Freshman midfielder Olivia Schlofer scored her first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute as the Greyhounds cut the Drew lead to 2-1 after falling behind in the first half. The Blue and Grey had a 13-9 edge in shots overall including 7-6 in the second half but they were unable to find the equalizer.

Moravian freshman goalie Taya Edwards-Wentz posted six saves in her first collegiate start in the cage while senior defender Shauna Poling recorded her team-leading fifth defensive save of the year to increase her career total to 17.

The Greyhounds will close out their 2016 home season on Saturday, October 22 in a Landmark Conference match versus Juniata College beginning at 1:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field. Prior to the match, Moravian will honor its five seniors on the squad's annual Senior Day.
