Field Hockey Comes Up Short at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team came up short on a late rally at Marywood University in non-conference action Sunday as the Greyhounds fell to the Pacers, 4-1.

The Blue and Grey scored in the 67th minute when senior Erin Tiwold knocked in her second goal of the season and the 17th of her career on a penalty corner. Senior defender Shauna Poling nserted the ball to start the play to junior midfielder/defender Katie Morrison, who one-timed a pass to Tiwold for the goal.

Senior keeper Megan Kanyuk made 12 saves for the Greyhounds as her career total increased to 426, and Poling recorded her fourth defensive save of the fall to raise her career total to 16. Kanyuk is third in school history in saves while Poling is second in defensive saves.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 8 in a Landmark Conference match versus Goucher College beginning at 2:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field in Bethlehem.
