Laratta Honored as ECAC DIII South Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College freshman attack Mark Laratta has been honored as the ECAC Division III South Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for his performance last week.

Laratta helped the Greyhounds to a 1-1 week last week as he scored 12 goals and contributed a pair of assists for 14 points. In Moravian's 15-2 win over Neumann, which gave the program its first-ever 10-win season, Laratta had five goals and an assist to go along with three ground balls. He then had seven goals, an assist, five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in a 22-14 loss at Goucher College that snapped Moravian's five-match winning streak. Laratta totaled eight ground balls and two caused turnovers for the week.

"Mark is our most dynamic dodger, and he creates offense for himself and our shooters," commented Head Coach Dave Carty. "He's also our hardest working player when we need a big play."

Moravian, 10-3 overall, is scheduled to close out its 2016 home season on Wednesday, April 20 when the squad hosts Immaculata University in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.
