Five Greyhounds to Compete at 2018 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Moravian College has five student-athletes – seniors Robert Condo and Mary Kate Duncan, sophomores Carly Danoski and Greg Jaindl and freshman Zion Howard – selected as part of the field for the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships that will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse from May 24-26.

Duncan is making her fourth trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships and is a two-time All-American as well as the defending national champion in the javelin while Condo is making his second trip to the NCAA meet. Danoski, Jaindl and Howard are set to compete in the NCAA championships for the first time.

Duncan will be the first of the group to compete in the championships with the women's javelin scheduled for Thursday, May 24 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Duncan enters the meet with the third best throw in the nation and top distance in the Mideast Region this spring at 45.30 meters (148-7), which she threw at the Coach Pollard Invitational on April 14. Last spring, Duncan won the event with a toss of 46.26 meters (151-9) on her fifth throw to become Moravian's second national champion in the event and the 21st national champions in school history. Duncan finished fifth at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a toss of 44.19 meters (144-11) on her fourth throw of the competition to earn All-American accolades, and she was 22nd in the NCAA meet as a freshman.

Howard is also scheduled to compete at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash. He had the 20th overall and last qualifying time of 21.52 seconds at the Muhlenberg College Invitational on April 7, which is also the fastest time in the Mideast Region. The three heat winners and the next fastest five preliminary times will run in the finals of the race that is scheduled for Saturday, May 26 at 2:40 p.m. EDT.

Jaindl is slated to race in the preliminaries of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. EDT. Jaindl ran a school record time of 9:13.09 on May 14 at the Swarthmore College Final Qualifier, which was the 20th and final qualifying spot and is also the fifth fastest time in the Mideast Region. The two heat winners and the next six fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

Condo competes in the men's javelin at 12:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 25. Condo enters the meet with the 17th best throw in the nation and the third in the Mideast Region at a distance of 60.50 meters (198-6) thrown at the Coach Pollard Invitational on April 14. Last spring, Condo made the finals at the NCAA meet and finished ninth with a throw of 60.27 meters (197-9) in his first trip to the national championships.

Danoski is the final member of the group to compete with the preliminaries of the 800-meter run set for Friday at 6:15 p.m. EDT. Danoski enters the meet with the seventh fastest time in the nation and best in the Mideast Region at 2:10.72, a school record that she ran on May 14 at the Swarthmore College Final Qualifier. The three heat winners and the next five fastest times will advance to the finals on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. EDT.
