BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The fourth seeded Moravian University field hockey squad needed a little over 14 minutes of extra play to earn a 2-1, double overtime victory over fifth seed Elizabethtown College in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round Saturday at John Makuvek Field to advance to the Semifinals.
How It Happened
- After a scoreless first quarter, the Greyhounds got onto the scoreboard first as junior forward Sydney Anderson knocked in a pass from senior defender Jenna Segrave
- The score would remain 1-0 for the Blue & Grey through the remainder of the second quarter and all of the third quarter
- Elizabethtown knotted the score at 1-1 nearly six minutes into the fourth quarter
- Neither squad was able to score in the first 7-on-7, 10-minute overtime
- Anderson netted the game-winner 4:16 into the second overtime session off a pass from senior defender Onalee Long
- Moravian will be making its third straight appearance in the Landmark Conference Semifinals
Inside the Numbers
- Anderson's two goals give her four for the season and 31 in her career to go along with eight game-winning goals in three season with two this fall. Anderson moved into a tie for fourth all-time at Moravian with 31 career goals, and her 71 career points rank fifth in school history
- Segrave earned her third assist of the season and fourth of her career with the Blue & Grey while Long notched her fourth assist of 2023 and ninth of her career
- Freshman goalie Maia Machado recorded four saves in her ninth win of the season
- The Hounds had 28-7 edge in shots and a 25-2 advantage in penalty corners
