Men's Basketball Picked 6th in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md. – The Moravian College men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll. The poll was selected by the head coaches of the Landmark Conference.

The University of Scranton held down the top spot with 62 points and five first place votes while Juniata College is in second with 44 points and two first place votes. The Catholic University of America and Susquehanna University is tied for third place with 38 points while the Cardinals received one first place vote. The United States Merchant Marine Academy is in fifth place with 28 points while the Greyhounds are in sixth place with 26 points. Drew University and Goucher College are tied for last place with ten points each.

The top four teams in the final regular season standings qualify for postseason play in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The top two seeds will host semifinals February 20 with the highest remaining seed scheduled to host the championship February 23. The conference champion will earn the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Head Coach Jim Walker enters his 33rd season at the helm with a 411-395 record. Walker only lost two starters from last year, and is returning 11 letterwinners, eight of which are upperclassmen. Walker led the Greyhounds to the Landmark Conference Tournament last winter after posting a 12-14 season while going 7-7 in the conference.

Moravian opens up its season on Friday, November 16th as they travel to the Albright College Tournament. The Greyhounds will take on Elms College at 6 p.m.
