Hounds Fall to Lebanon Valley in 2024 Season Opener

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad fell to visiting Lebanon Valley College, 13-6, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Wednesday to begin the 2024 season.

How It Happened

  • The Flying Dutchmen netted the first two goals in the opening period before graduate student attack Connor James scored a man-up goal for the Greyhounds with 3:05 left in the first period. LVC tallied two more goals to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes of action
  • Freshman attack Brady Quinn started the second quarter with a goal for the Blue & Grey while the Flying Dutchmen scored twice to push out to a 6-2 edge. Senior attack Trevor Dzama netted a goal for Moravian, and junior midfielder Dan Kelly scored on another man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to 6-4 with just under six minutes to go in the first half. Lebanon Valley added a man-up goal to head to the intermission with a 7-4 advantage
  • The Flying Dutchmen outscored the Hounds, 4-1, in the third quarter with Moravian's lone goal coming from Kelly with a man advantage
  • LVC scored twice in the fourth quarter while Moravian netted the final goal of the contest as freshman attack Nick Coffaro found the cage with his first career goal

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had eight players register a point in the match with Kelly scoring a pair of goals
  • Dzama and Coffaro each had a goal and an assist with Dzama scooping up three ground balls while James and Quinn both had one goal
  • Senior long stick midfielder Matt Baer added an assist and eight ground balls while junior midfielder Aaron Judge had an assist and two ground balls and junior midfielder Steven Salica  added an assist
  • Junior face-off specialist Gannon Mesko went 18-for-22 on face-offs, and he scooped up a team-high 10 ground balls while junior midfielder Aden Moskovitz recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers
  • Junior defender Austin Hittle and junior midfielder Kyle Weiss each registered four ground balls with Hittle adding two caused turnovers. Junior defender Jason Levy also had a pair of caused turnovers
  • Junior goalie Thomas Lee posted ten saves in the match
  • The Hounds were 3-for-6 on extra-man opportunities in the contest to go with 41 ground balls
