Moravian’s Quick Start Leads to Landmark Conference Win at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse team scored six goals in the first quarter on the way to a 16-6 Landmark Conference victory at Juniata College Saturday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The needed just 1:22 to take the lead as freshman attack Nick Coffaro found the net. The Eagles countered a minute and a half later while junior midfielder Steven Salica gave the Blue & Grey the lead for good at the 11:05 mark. Salica's tallied started a five-goal run to end the first quarter as Coffaro scored again, junior midfielder Aaron Judge netted two goals and junior midfielder Nick Sullivan gave the Hounds a 6-1 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • The Eagles began the second period with a goal while senior attack Trevor Dzama scored for the Hounds. After Juniata scored again, Judge and junior midfielder Dan Kelly found the net to send Moravian to the intermission with a 9-3 advantage
  • Juniata opened the scoring in the third quarter with its lone goal of the period while the Greyhounds had goals from Dzama, Coffaro and sophomore attack Ryan Kokoszka for a 12-4 lead after 45 minutes of play
  • Moravian netted four goals in the fourth while the Eagles scored twice. Freshman attack Brady Quinnhad a pair of markers for the Hounds while Sullivan and Judge each scored one more time

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had nine players record a point with Judge netting four goals to go with five ground balls
  • Coffaro added a hat trick to go along with an assist, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while Dzama had two goals, two assists and three ground balls
  • Sullivan and Quinn each netted two goals with Quinn scooping up two ground balls while Kokoszka had a goal and an assist
  • Salica and Kelly both found the net once with Kelly adding four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while graduate student attack Connor James had two assists
  • Junior Gannon Mesko went 20-for-23 on face-offs to go with 10 ground balls while junior defender Jason Levy had five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers
  • Junior midfielder Aden Moskovitz scooped up four ground balls while junior midfielder Kyle Weiss contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers and senior long stick midfielder Matt Baer scooped up three ground balls
  • Junior goalie Thomas Lee made eight saves in 49 minutes of action while junior goalie Avery Napolitano had one save in six minutes of play. Freshman goalie Nick Crames played the final five minutes of the contest
  • The Hounds held a 55-21 advantage in shots, a 54-24 edge in ground balls, won 21-of-26 face-offs and went 22-for-23 on clearing attempts
