Men’s Soccer Drops Conference Opener to Susquehanna, 2-0

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Moravian College men's soccer team fell to Susquehanna University 2-0 in its 2013 Landmark Conference opener on the road on Saturday afternoon.

In the 6th minute, sophomore goalkeeper Brian Boland made a save, but Susquehanna cleaned up the rebound for the 1-0 lead. The Crusaders would add an insurance goal in the 64th minute and hold on for its first Landmark victory of the year.

The Greyhounds fall to 5-3-2 with the loss, while Susquehanna improved to 5-3-1 and 1-1 in the conference.

Senior forward Jeffrey Algor led Moravian offensively with three shots, two of which forced saves from the Susquehanna keeper. Algor's shot in the 23rd minute required a save, as did his attempt in the 58th minute as Moravian mounted a comeback effort.

Boland finished the match with six saves.

Moravian's next chance at its first conference win is next weekend in a 3:30 p.m. match at The Catholic University of America on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Greyhounds' first home Landmark Conference match is set for the following Saturday, Oct. 12 on the HUB Quad.
